Would you like to go to bed every night promising yourself that you will wake up feeling pretty good and reasonably successful? Do you remind yourself of the great things happening to you and how grateful you should be for being alive?
Then when morning comes, as it always does, you wake up filled with anxiety and dread. A dozen terrible thoughts run through your head and you literally feel lazy from the weight of thoughts. Waking up feeling well-rested and energized can seem next to impossible especially for night owls. If you have trouble getting up feeling energized, you need to find a way of managing yourself to get a full 8 hours night sleep and work up energized in the morning. Try these simple daily tips that include reflection, affirmation and motivation to start your day feeling more energized. They will help you get off to a great start to the day. Don’t use the snooze button There is nothing worse than the sound of alarm waking you up in the morning, so avoid subjecting yourself to awful alarm multiple noises. Hitting the snooze button allows you some few minutes in bed, but your brain knows you have precious little time in bed, so your sleep won’t be restful. So, set off the alarm with the first ring, wake up and get out of bed. This way you will feel less tired and energized. Meditation and self-reflection After waking up, the first morning ritual for success is meditation. This includes sitting comfortably in a quiet place for up to 30 minutes. Observe quietly your thoughts or concentrate on the movement of your breath. This allows you to be still and mindful of your thoughts and breathes of the moment. Meditation can also be used as a time for self-reflection and gratitude. Incorporating meditation and self-reflection in your morning routine can relieve stress, enhance mindful self-awareness, and improve concentration during the day. Get a dose of sunlight There is a reason why the sun rises and shines in the morning. It welcomes the day and the warm to all that see it. It sends a message to your internal clock that it’s time to be awake and energized. Open your curtains, let the sun in while you are meditating or self-reflecting or even having breakfast. During winter and rainy months, consider using a light therapy box, they tend to mimic outdoor light. Then get ready for an energized and motivated day ahead. Listen to music for motivation Some studies have found that listening to your favorite music helps your brain release a significant amount of dopamine. These hormones cause the brain to light up and you end up feeling more alert and motivated. Consider making your favorite music an alarm tone, you can’t wake up completely painless, but at least it’s a source of motivation instead of an awful default tone. Engage in some physical activity The most common morning motivation comes in a form of exercise. So if you can wake up early enough to exercise before going to work. It adds more power to you and will keep you up, inspired and motivated. Partaking in routine exercises in the morning, will help you improve your energy, promote emotional we-being, enhance mental alertness and concentration. It should not feel like a burden, just involve some, stretching, yoga or short cardio workouts. Affirmation Affirmation typically involves repeating phrases or words that send specific instructions to your brain and body. Theses instruction act as commands that help your direct your decisions and thoughts. Make sure then that your affirmations are tied with very specific to be taken throughout the day. The actions must be built upon habits, beliefs, and attitude that helps you to complete or accomplish your goals. Repeat your affirmation in the morning first, then throughout the day and stay focused on your important actions. Just a simple “today is going to be my best day ever” or “I love being alive!” will make all the difference. Have a good breakfast Don’t skip this. It is the most important meal of your day, even if you don’t feel hungry, eat a healthy breakfast. It will help you feel energized all day. Avoid anything that has unsaturated fat, potassium and magnesium because they will make you feel sleepy again. These seven rituals will lay a successful foundation for an empowering morning routine that will leave you feeling motivated throughout the day. Incorporate any of them into your morning schedule by picking out what works best for you and start there, then finally shift towards making a different set of choices that will lead you towards energize and inspired life.
